When You Need Clarity: Practical Tips for Entrepreneurs Of Faith
Hearing from God is a journey. But what do we do when we’re waiting for clarity and don’t know what the next step is?

Waiting Isn’t Easy
God wants to lead us. Psalm 32:8 says: I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
The truth, however, is that God’s leading happens on His own timing, and sometimes we have to wait for it. It’s not always easy to wait, but there are practical things we can do while we wait that nurture our faith while helping us gain more clarity about what’s next.
The first and most important thing we must do is seek God and the second is to trust Him.
As we seek God, He will gradually reveal more to us about what we need to know. Trusting Him also cultivates patience in the seasons of waiting and leads to spiritual maturity.
James 1:3-4 says: For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
Remember, God may not provide all instructions upfront but reveals them gradually!
Obedience Takes Faith
Have you read the story of Abraham? In the book of Genesis God told him to go to a place he didn’t know, and in faith, Abraham obeyed God’s instructions even though he didn’t have all the answers.
Sometimes God’s instructions don’t make sense to us right away, and it takes faith to obey what He’s telling us to do. Be encouraged that God has your best interest in mind, and will only lead you to do things that will be good for you in the end.
We can all be encouraged by Abraham’s testimony and example, especially when we see the good plan that unfolded in his life.
God was faithful to Abraham, and He will continue to be faithful to you and me because that is His character!
The Secret To Fulfillment
One of the challenges that comes from waiting is this nagging feeling that we need something in order to be satisfied. Whether it’s knowing the next step, getting our prayer answered, or seeing some type of breakthrough.
But Paul said he learned the secret to being content regardless of the situation.
In Philippians 4:11-12 Paul wrote: Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
The secret to being content in our current season is finding enjoyment in God. When we take our focus off of what we’re waiting for and allow ourselves to enjoy God’s presence we’ll find ourselves feeling fulfilled and energized.
Psalm 37:4 says: Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires.
Focusing On Christ Brings Clarity
Continuing to seek God and staying rooted in scripture will help us find enjoyment in Him, as well as position us to hear from God more clearly.
We have to be careful that our search for clarity doesn’t consume us and distract us from God. He wants to answer our prayers, but most importantly, He wants to remain the top priority in our lives!
